The Top 10 Germans

A survey to find the greatest Germans has produced a shortlist of ten for public voting. The nominees are: Konrad Adenauer (chancellor), J S Bach (composer), Otto von Bismarck (statesman), Willy Brandt (mayor of a divided Berlin), Albert Einstein (scientist), Johannes Gutenberg (inventor of the printing press), Goethe (writer), Karl Marx (philosopher) and Martin Luther (Protestant leader). While the majority are figures of international importance, the omission of Beethoven has caused a stir, as has the inclusion of Einstein, who renounced his German citizenship. I'll post the winners i due course...
