More historians needed!

Saturday February 21, 2004
Schools, and some historians, tend to a give us a false impression: that we know what happened in history, that the books we read and the documentaries we watch are totally correct. This simply isn't true, and nowhere is this inaccuracy more startling than the Second World War: the single largest conflict in human history. We must know what happened? Sadly we don't, especially not on the Eastern Front where Nazi Germany and Communist Russia fought the battles that decided the war. This article from the New York Times outlines why our knowledge is faulty. Note: you have to register to read this article, but registration is 100% free.
