Gutenberg invented the printing press. Didn't he?

An Italian researcher, currently being roundly mocked by his peers, is claiming that Johannes Gutenberg didn't invent the process of printing with moveable type after all; instead he used the old method of large wooden stamps. The researcher intends to prove his theory with a demonstration but, as this article explains, he may not have many serious witnesses...

In school I was taught that Gutenberg took the ideas from the Chinese.
