When Ben and Jerry decided to call their new ice cream ‘black and tan’ after the flavour’s colour it must have seemed like a good idea. Unfortunately the name has been used before: for a British military unit that ‘fought’ in Ireland in the 1920’s, earning a thoroughly psychopathic reputation. Argument has followed.
