Mary, Queen of Scots, Death Warrant Changes Hands

Saturday February 23, 2008
The only surviving copy of the warrant which condemned Mary, Queen of Scots, to death in 1587 has been purchased by the Church of England. It’s actually a contemporary copy of the original warrant signed by Elizabeth I which is now lost, and cost £72,485, raised through donations and fund raising. The copy will be placed on display at Lambeth Palace Library.
