The Codex Sinaiticus

Friday July 25, 2008
The Codex Sinaiticus is now online. What, you might be thinking, is that? Well, it’s a document from the fourth century which includes the oldest known complete copy of the New Testament, the key book for Christians. The Codex has been photographed and made available online as both an image and transcription (with translation), allowing you to get relatively close to a precious document, although I had trouble zooming into it. However, if you want to learn a bit more about the history of the Codex, try this article from Britain’s Telegraph newspaper which explores some of the arguments over it. (It was thanks to this article that I found the Codex website.)
