Royal Underwear Sells for $9,000

Friday August 8, 2008
I really wasn’t sure whether to post this, but there is an element of something greater in this: the interest that people still have for royalty. A pair of bloomers, a kind of lower undergarment, belonging to Queen Victoria of Britain has been sold for $9,000. They date to the 1890s. A nightdress sold for $11,000. Pretty large sums of cash for what must count as obscure items.

Lincoln said:
You can fool some of the people all the time.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall vendors appeared on the streets of New York. They sold pieces of the Wall to strangers.
Another angle on this might be:
What price dignity?
Is this not true? The royals put their pants on one leg at a time.
