Museums and Mobiles

Museums and sites of historic interest have sometimes provided audio guides before, but the “Roman Town House” museum in Dorchester, UK, has introduced something a little different. Instead of giving you headphones and some sort of tape/cd/mp3 player, people interested in the audio guide simply ring a special number on their mobile phones. After a $3 connection fee, the call is charged at a cheaper local rate and you can move along with the guide, ending the call when you’ve finished. It certainly saves the museum having to keep track of audio equipment.
