Medieval Manuscripts Online

Friday October 24, 2008
A library called the Stiftsbibliothek (Abbey Library) in St. Gallen, Switzerland, has received a $1 million dollar grant to digitize and place online its manuscript collection, including 350 documents which date to before 1000 CE. The library itself was probably founded in the ninth century, and has survived until the modern era. The grant was from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and 144 of the documents can currently be found online here (and fascinating they are too). Why not have a browse?
