Team to Save Churches
Saturday December 20, 2008
The British government have announced plans to use £1.5 million to part fund a team of experts who will help save Britain’s churches. These religious structures are among the oldest and most common of Britain’s buildings – one close to me dates from the late eleventh century – but falling congregations have led to funding crises which has put many in danger. The thirty strong team will include conservation experts who will give advice on care and upkeep. I have to admit, if I wasn’t an agoraphobic it’s the kind of job which would interest me.
