Napoleonic Collection on Display

Follow me on:

When Pierre-Jean Chalencon was a teenager, his parents gave him a motorcycle. This isn’t unusual, but Chalencon then sold it and bought an engraving (a form of picture) featuring Napoleon Bonaparte. This now features in his collection of around 400 items dedicated to the French Emperor. Many of these items are now on display in the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, and NJ.com has an interview with Chalencon. He has moved to the US from France and still expands his collection, although he admits these days he tends to only buy “museum quality” pieces. The passionate Chalencon refers to his collection as “his babies”, and he gives some hints as to why “You really go inside the life of Bonaparte…I like to create an atmosphere. It's not just artefacts." Possibly worth a look if you’re interested and near Philadelphia.
