Britain has Fought Nine out of Ten Countries

By November 16, 2012

Follow me on:

Stuart Laycock has got a great idea for a book, having been inspired by a question from his child: how many countries has Britain fought over its long history? The result is in his book 'All the Countries We've Ever Invaded: And the Few We Never Got Round To' but basically what he's done is take each of the 192 countries in the UN, plus Kosovo and the Vatican, looked at their modern borders, and gone through history to see if Britain has ever fought anyone within those borders.

The result is that Britain has battled all but twenty two of the modern states at some point in those region's histories. I'm not going to put the list here in case you want to take a guess, so once you've created your list go to this Telegraph article, scroll to the bottom of the text, and the list is in alphabetical order.
