In order to keep text at a minimum, but clarity high, Henry V is referred to by his royal title throughout; in practice, he was known mainly as Henry of Monmouth until 1399 and Prince Henry until 1413. The sieges listed are far from a comprehensive list, but larger events included to give a better picture.

1386/7
• 9 August/16 September: Henry V born at Monmouth Castle.

1398
• October 13: Henry V's father, Henry Bolingbroke, leaves England having been exiled for ten years by Richard II; Henry V soon becomes a guest at the royal court.

1399
• Late May: Henry V accompanies Richard II on campaign to Ireland, where he is knighted.
• Early July: Bolingbroke returns to England to challenge Richard II.
• Late July: Richard II imprisons Henry V in Ireland and returns to England.
• September 29: Richard II forced to abdicate.
• October 13: Henry Bolingbroke becomes Henry IV of England.
• October 15: Henry V accepted as heir to Henry IV; appointed Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall and Earl of Chester.
• October 16: Henry V appointed Duke of Aquitaine.
• November 10: Henry V appointed Duke of Lancaster.

1400
• September 16: Owain Glyn Dwr begins a rebellion in Wales; Henry V spends much of the next ten years suppressing it, learning vital lessons in warfare.

1403
• April 1: Henry V first appointed Royal Lieutenant for all of Wales.
• July 21: The Battle of Shrewsbury. Henry IV beats the rebel army of Henry 'Hotspur' Percy; despite injury, Henry V distinguishes himself in command of the right flank.

1406
• December 6: Henry V now a regular at Royal Council meetings.

1410
• January: Henry V takes overall command of the Royal Council; acts as de facto ruler of England.
• France descends into civil war between the Armagnacs and Burgundians.

1411
• October: Henry V sends small pro-Burgundian force to France.
• November: Henry IV expels Henry V from the Royal Council.

1412
• June: Henry V issues statements justifying recent actions (see August); denies he wished to seize throne.
• August: Prince Thomas leads English pro-Armagnac expedition to France; his older brother, Henry V, had refused to go.
• September: An angry Henry V and armed supporters arrive in London to protest innocence over accusations of embezzlement in Calais.

1413
• March 20: Henry IV dies.
• March 21: Henry V proclaimed King of England.
• April 9: Henry V crowned in Westminster Abbey; a period of reform and reconciliation followed.
• October 19: Sir John Oldcastle, a former ally of Henry and a devout Lollard, escapes from The Tower of London.
• December: Richard II reburied in Westminster Abbey with full royal honours.

1414
• January 9-10: An attempted Lollard uprising led by Oldcastle occurs outside London; Henry V easily crushes it.
• March: General Pardon granted to all Lollards who repent.

1415
• June: Henry V breaks off talks with both French sides.
• Late July-Early August: The Southampton Plot against Henry V is uncovered and the plotters executed.
• August 11: Henry V sails for France.
• August 13: Henry V and army land in France.
• August 19: Henry V begins siege of Harfleur.
September 22: Harfleur surrenders.
• October 6-8: Henry V leaves Harfleur on a march to Calais.
• October 25: Combined French forces block the English army and The Battle of Agincourt follows. Henry V is victorious.
• October 29: Henry V enters Calais.
