The inhouse magazine of Craiglockhart Military Hospital, The Hydra was written and edited by patients during the Great War of 1914 - 1918. The Hydra is of especial importance to historians and litterateurs because amongst those patients were the famed war poets Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen, with the latter assuming editorial duties from the August 4th edition of 1917 until his departure. Not only did they both publish material within, but The Hydra features the first publication of a Wilfred Owen poem, namely 'Song of Songs'.
