1513: The Second Holy Alliance is formed by the Treaty of Mechelin; members Pope Leo X, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian, King Henry VIII of England and King Ferdinand II of Aragon plan invade France.
1755: The workshop of Thomas Chippendale, the still famous furniture maker, is burnt down.
