1520: The Stockholm Bloodbath: eighty Swedish bishops are murdered on the command of King Christian II of Denmark-Norway and Sweden just four days after he gave them an amnesty. Further massacres follow throughout Sweden.
1620: The Battle of the White Mountain: Protestant Czech forces are defeated by Catholic Austrian ones, ending Bohemia's independence and partly triggering the Thirty Years War.
