About Ancient/Classical History
Devoted to all things Ancient and Classical, N. S. Gill's About site is the best resource for the subject on the internet, with articles, timelines, reviews, biographies, a thriving forum and much more.
Ancient Europe
Primarily a site for students at Boise State University, this course of essays ranges in style and content. Those by Skip Knox are the best – generally being long and in relative depth – while some are just links to material on other sites.
Ancient History Sourcebook
Here you can find hundreds of documents – including full-length versions of important books – available for download or online reading. All aspects of ancient history are covered, but clear categories make navigation easy.
Introduction to Ancient Cultures
Although 'Exploring Ancient World Cultures' is creating a free college-level textbook out of careful linking, they host their introductions. The style is modern, maybe 'post-modern', shortly and sharply explaining why we should study ancient history, as well as summarising each era.
Visual and Interactive History
This BBC site sums itself up thus: "Explore ancient history through feature articles, 3-d virtual tours, games and animations"; it's not a perfect description, as they don't mention how thoroughly excellent the whole resource is.
