Guide Review - Waterloo: The Hundred Days by David Chandler
Complete with an introduction that modestly justifies the need for another book on Waterloo, Chandler's account of the hundred days is pitched slightly above the beginner's level, providing, not just a narrative of events or descriptions of the armed forces and commanders, but a discussion on the conflicts between modern commentators. Consequently, this book also includes Chandler's conclusions but, because the text is over twenty years old, these may have been changed by new research. Nevertheless, this is a well-written and measured account, complete with excellent maps and black and white illustration; it's also a handsome volume.
