Elizabeth I

The most famous Queen of England, Elizabeth I was the last of the Tudors and a monarch whose life featured war, discovery and religious strife. She was also a poet, writer and - most notoriously - never married.
Elizabeth I
Created by Anniina Jokinen, this smartly designed site is a nice resource for Elizabeth I. The eyes are stimulated by a large gallery of Elizabeth's portraits, the ears by a piece of music which plays on loading (you can turn it off!) and the mind by examples of the Queen’s poetry, letter and speeches.
ElizabethI.org
A site bearing the Queen's name ought to be good, but Elizabeth I.org is excellent, a rich mine of information on her life, wardrobe, politics, religious affiliations and much more. Each section is a mini-essay, and support is provided by bibliographies, an faq on myths and even a list of notable fiction!
The Correspondence of Queen Elizabeth I and King James VI
An erudite and academic essay by Janel Mueller discussing the important correspondence of Queen Elizabeth of England and James VI of Scotland, the key content of which was the intended succession of the English throne.
Tudor England: Elizabeth
This biography of Elizabeth is excellent - long, illustrated, hyperlinked and concerned with all the key issues - but don't ignore the rest of the site, for 'Tudor England' is a great resource providing invaluable context on the Queen’s childhood and family.
Tudor History
Part of tudorhistory.org (a site worth exploring if you wish to learn more about Elizabeth's family and the Tudor era itself), this succinct biography is accompanied by the text of Pope Pius V's 1570 Bull against Elizabeth, numerous galleries and a French Ambassador's account of meeting the Queen.
