Definition: In 1903 the Russian Social Democratic Party split into two groups; the more radical minority became called Bolsheviks (which actually means 'members of the majority'). Lenin led this party to power in the 1917 October Revolution.
Examples:
To counter the growing unrest, Bolshevik newspapers and printers were shut down and leading members arrested.
