Definition: 'Psalms', a book in both the Old Testament and Tanakh, is frequently reproduced alone, partly for chanting/singing and partly because the early Christian Church attached special value to this single book: it could teach adequately in an era when whole Bibles were rare and was the most widely disseminated book. The Book of Psalms is often referred to as the Psalter, and stand-alone copies of the book are also called Psalters.
Examples: I read them excerpts from the Psalter. / The Lawrence family Psalter was created in 1548 and passed down the generations.
