Treaty of Versailles

In 1919 the Allied nations who ‘won’ the First World War dictated the peace treaty they would sign with Germany: the infamous Treaty of Versailles. Although this wasn’t as harsh as some of the Allies wished, it has since been blamed for, amongst other things, directly causing the Second World War.
