The Mary Rose: I was conned

Sunday August 31, 2003
You may have seen a report from our British History Guide that: "Divers working on the site of the famous flagship of Henry VIII, the Mary Rose, claim they have finally found the front section of the warship - the final missing piece - and this has been hailed as one of the most important archaeological finds of the last 20 years!"

Now, as a child I sat through a lot of tv on the Mary Rose, seeing it lifted from the sea bed and moved to a museum...and at no point did anyone say "oh, we’re missing a massive chunk". It was all there, and those hours of footage (some shown in school, some from afterschool) put me off reading about it anymore as an adult. Which probably goes to show something...maybe that you should always do further reading. Or that kid's telly is rubbish.
