Henry VIII's 'Crown of Golde' Remade

By October 19, 2012

Follow me on:

In records about Britain's royal family there's a "crowne of golde" listed. We know Henry VIII wore it, and so did descendants up to Charles I, but shortly after - as the civil war had wracked England - it was melted down by Cromwell's government to raise funds. But experts like a challenge, and a large team has worked to create a replica which weighs 6.6 lbs, and has 344 jewels and pearls. If you want to see it, you either have to make it to Hampton Court Palace for a look, or follow this link to a Yahoo / Reuters page with a picture.
