Revolutionary and Communist Russia
In 1917 two revolutions convulsed Russia, leading to civil war, and the creation of a communist government. The events of this period helped transform the world, and remain in evidence today.
Presented in a hypertext format, this is the full text of Lenin’s constitution for the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic, which was ratified on July 10th 1918.
This two-page account of the Russian Civil War concentrates on broad trends rather than specific events. Examining the strengths and weaknesses of both main sides, and including information on regional differences and international involvement, this would be an ideal accompaniment to a timeline or narrative. Oddly, it neglects to mention the importance of the railways to the Red Army.
This narrative states that its pages "are not replacements for a more in-depth treatment of such an important event." Although correct, its also rather modest, as this two part narrative history of the Russian Revolution is clear, detailed and analytical.
The artwork of the Russian Revolution is justifiably famous. This page contains seven large, full colour posters, along with brief annotation.
